Wai Lan 2008 in Marcau

Dear Prayer Friends,

We are having an unusually cold winter. I also heard about unfavorable weather in the States, in China, and in Europe. Again, I am reminded that the whole creation groans and suffers because of our sins.

Macau has changed a lot in the past few years. Population has increased by about 20%, and the infra-structure of Macau can hardly keep up with demands of the population. Many of the new comers are foreign labors, mainly in casino business and construction industry.

Churches, which in the past have neglected the spiritual needs of the people in casino business, are now more active in reaching out to the gamblers and casino workers. Also, students in Macau Bible Institute are aware that they need to equip themselves to minister to this segment of the society.

In school, I am still teaching Bible courses and taking care of the library and the public affairs. I pray for strength. In church, I am teaching Sunday school to a group of teenagers. Half of these teenagers are from an orphanage. Please pray for me patience and love because these children are from unloving backgrounds and have very unpleasant past.

A luxurious classroom?

看起來好像是很豪華的課室，但其實是借用休息室作臨時課室。WaiLan (ngw@juno.com)親愛的代禱朋友：

這個冬天特別冷。也聽到在美國、中國、歐洲各地都有大風雪。極度嚴寒的天氣再一次提醒我們「一切受造之物一同歎息、勞苦，直到如今」都是因為我們犯罪的緣故。

澳門這幾年改變了很多，突然之間多了近十萬人 (多了20%的人)，社區建設的配套都跟不上人口增長帶來的需要。新入境的居民很多都是外地輸入的勞工，多數從事賭場和建築業。

以前教會比較忽略從事賭場工作的人士的屬靈需要，但現在比較主動地接觸這一群人。同時，聖經學院的學生們也覺得需要裝備自己去服侍這個群體。

在澳門聖經學院，我主要的工作是教導聖經科目、管理圖書館、和對外聯絡及宣傳的工作。求主給我力量。在教會 (晨光福音堂)，我現在教導一班青少年主日學，當中有一半的青少年來自兒童院，他們來自沒有愛的家庭，有坎坷的背景。求主給我忍耐和愛去教導他們。
