Catheribne Tu_2008 before mission trip testimony
Testimony
On February 29, I was lucky enough to go to Planet Wisdom. Though I could not stay for the second day, I learned quite a lot from the analogy of a potter is to pottery as God is to His creations. Like the process of making pottery, we experience the steps to become a successful person, and to do that, we have to obey the Maker. Pastor Don always says that when you believe in Jesus, your life will begin to change and it is because once you let God be in your life, God will start to shape you into the person that He has always planned. So if you were rock hard, He will give you mercy and love to make your clay useful again.
As I listen to Mark Matlock explain the analogy, I wonder off into my own questions. “What exactly does God expect of us, of me?” “Is going to church not enough? Is just praying not going to cut it?” I have changed a bit since I have started to believe in God; I started to pray more, not just before eating. But was this not enough?
It isn’t enough, and it leads to the next step. After learning so much about God and Jesus for years, I hadn’t gone to the next step yet, because I don’t like anywhere other than my own comfort zone. That is why I want to serve at the Taiwan Mission Trip. Right now, I am still an unfinished pot that needs a task. What will I do for God; what can I do? I want to use the time at the Taiwan Mission Trip to show all the kids and adults there that believing in Jesus is a glorious thing, and I want the kids to know that I was in their position before, all rowdy and ignorant, but now I am a good role model, and they can become one, too.

Colossians 1:1-14
Lord I can sense the joy that Saint Paul was experiencing as I read this letter. What an exciting time to be able to see in tangible ways the life of the Savior bearing fruit in the lives of other believers. To be able to sense the expansion of God’s Word work its way from the small city of Jerusalem to all over the world. What a remarkable time to live in. Father please allow us to see the work your Spirit through our lives in our communities.
Lord help me to continue to testify of your love in my neighborhood. Lord I pray for the youth anoint them with your Spirit to spread the gospel. Lord please use me to teach them your word and your ways. Let us see you move among us. Give us humble hearts and unified hearts that those who visit us may see the working of our God in our lives. Lord I pray the same for my family. I feel my testimony is weakest when I loose patience with those whom I love. Help me to lead with my ears and not my mouth (James) Lord, thank you for this past mission conference and the opportunity to host Tom in our home. Thank you for the chance for our children to spend time with him and get to now the father of Caleb, for whom they have been praying . Lord, please watch over their family and little Caleb.

2 Chronicles 15-16
As I read this passage, I was reminded how appetite can literally drive our lives. This time mine in particular. Even after having eaten a nice meal I had a hankering for certain food, so much so that I took our family +1 on a slight detour. It had been ages or so it seemed since I'd last had cheesecake like cheesecake factory. Why do i share this? Well as I read this passage. I was reminded of how when we hunger for something we'll really put our energy into seeking what we hunger for. As for the Israelites in those days the true God was out of sight and mind of most Israelites. However, when God reminded King Asa through his prophet of His promises. After that the hunger for God had captured Asa and he sought after Him and found Him. But not only did he find God, but Asa was able to return the tribes of Judah and Benjamin back to their true God.
If your appetite is not with God and his Word and you lack His peace and strength, God invites me you all of us to return to him daily. I'm always amazed at how quickly I can get caught up in the work of God and yet miss the sweetness of my savor who I serve. The lord reminds me "I am with you when you are with (me)".
May you use me to bring you daily into the lives of my home, church and community. God may you satisfy each of us as we turn to you. I pray for those who are struggling to continue their devotions or maybe even just begin. May your Spirit affirm your words in their hearts that You are with them when they are with you.
Lord I pray for our mission team that you will establish and strengthen Cathryn, Kristian, and Kirsten as well as Sister Flora, Brother James and Sister Pauline. May you grant us a strong bond of unity and desire to see your will done through our lives. Thank you Lord that when we are with You you are with us. And I pray for those who remain that they will see that we are one body and grant them the vision to see that there work of prayer here binds them together with us in the building of your kingdom. Help us to be diligent in our preparations of our lessons and activities and prepare ourselves in prayer to be useful in Your hands.

Pastor Don devotion (2/26)
Scripture: 2 Corinthians 1: 1-11; Romans 8:28-30
Dear Lord, the weight of this fallen world seems to fall on us indiscriminately. Yet, I know you are our heavenly Father and you let into our lives those things that will for our good. But yesterday, I really struggle with this when Amy's toe was badly hurt . Its one thing to suffer for being a Christian, but Lord when it appears as accidents it doesn’t make sense. I can understand why people struggle with unexplained loss of pains. Lord only give us your grace to endure and bear under this as we await your healing. Expand our ability to hold onto you when “life” happens especially when life doesn't seem fair.
Thank you for Your Word, that promises that "in all things God works for the good of those who love Him,…" (Romans 8:28) and "praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles , so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves have received from God." (2 Cor. 1:3-4)
It seems that those who go through the sufferings of life while connected to you are the ones whose life experiences are never wasted. Lord increase our faith to grab hold of You in the midst of pain and sorrow knowing that not only will You give us the comfort that touches our very souls but that now in our pain if we hold on to You -You will cause our comfort to overflow. Lord please allow our family to experience overflow in our lives that not only we have enough comfort for our lives but that the overflow will bless those around us.

Grace to you. I hope your staying warm in the frozen north =). Warmer weather has already arrived in Tx. We've had activities almost every week this month, so my attention has been spread out. But this weekend and Monday I'm hoping to put together the final touches on the English side's part for the Mission Conference Handbook. If possible could you provide the focus scripture and topic/title for each session. Also, if you have any requests for worship songs let us know. And if you could share your ideas for the program flow we can include that in the handbook. Also, if there is any supporting needs you have please let me know.
Sister Flora has forwarded your schedule information and I just wanted you to know that I will coordinate your transportation needs, lodging etc. How can I be of help? If I recall you will be renting a vehicle, is that correct? Will you do that @ the airport or can I give you a lift? Also, outside of the official church program, will you be available to meet with others? If so, I'd like to set up some kind of informal meeting with the youth. I hope to provide an opportunity for you to hang out with the youth so that they can the most benefit from your visit. Perhaps during both Friday and Saturday nights' potlucks we can gather in one room to address some of these topics:
1. What is the current situation of missions around the world
2. How many still haven't heard the gospel.
3. How many missionary around the world
4. How many kinds of missions/missionaries? What is the direction or trends for missions?
5. What about our youth if they are interested in becoming a missionary. What way can they prepare if they desire to go into mission or would like to test the water?
Please let me know what you think.
Blessings,
Don

Planet Wisdom
Dear youth parents,
A great hello to you! Thank you for your commitment in raising your teens in the truths of God. We want to be of help and in partnership with you. As such, we hereby invite you to challenge your teens to join us for our upcoming discipleship conference with Planet Wisdom.
What.
Planet Wisdom Tour 2008 is a discipleship conference filled with Biblical teaching, fun and meaningful interactions, and passionate worship.
Where.
Irving Bible Church (2435 Kinwest Parkway Irving, TX 75063).
When.
Friday, February 29 – Saturday, March 1.
Please meet us at church at 5:40 pm on Friday February 29 (remember to bring a sack dinner). We will take them to Irving Bible Church, and on Saturday, we will be back to church at 6:00 pm.
Why.
To grow in Christ, fulfilling our purpose of maturity.
Planet Wisdom Tour 08 is a discipleship conference designed to mature students’ walk with God. God can use our students in powerful ways, but only if they surrender their lives to Him completely. Planet Wisdom will give your students a vision for who Christ wants them to be and will equip them to be the world-changers that God intends.
Planet Wisdom is intensely dedicated to discipline students; all the elements of the conference will work together (a) to raise the relevance of the Bible for our lives, and then (b) to place us inside a culture of accountability so that what God says can be learned together and applied together today and also tomorrow. In fact, Planet Wisdom has provided lessons which we have been teaching over these past weeks to engage us with the coming conference.
Wherefore. This year’s theme is Become More. The Theme verse is 1 Peter 5:6 - Humble yourselves, therefore, under God's mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time. The cost is $50 @ door (remember also to bring money for Saturday lunch). We have included on the other side a schedule and a list of things to bring.
After Conference session I on Friday evening, we will be going to the Chu’s home for snacks and small group Bible studies, so that we can have a chance to discuss what we are learning in a setting the students to be real with one another. Thereafter, the guys will spend the night down stairs and the girls upstairs @ the Chu’s home. On Saturday, we will be back to church at 6:00 pm.
Thank you for the privilege to serve you and grow with your teens. Pray with us.

Pastor Don’s Devotion_2_17_2008
I love how God’s word helps to simplify life to its core issues. In a world that is so driven by knowledge constantly pressing us into information overload (web surfing, emails, Tv, billboard etc.) All this works to create the illusion that I have an endless list of options. Yet, quietly and clearly the voice of God’s word reveals there are really only two options: Wisdom or Folly.
It brings the issue to what am I choosing.. Wisdom pulls back the curtain to reveal then when all these options that fall outside of wisdom… each one serves only to dumb me down much like how Pinocchio’s choices lead him further and further down folly’s path. All the while, transforming him from within into the symbol of folly, i.e., donkey.
Lord please help me not to become dim witted in my thinking. Grant me Your wisdom from Your Word to discern which path I walk and wisdom to turn around when the path leads to folly.
Please draw my family and the youth into your word so that no one will be taken captive by the philosophies of this world and its entangling temptations.

Over 29,000 kids will die from hunger and hunger related disease everyday! Let’s use this year’s Famine to make a dent into world hunger and to make a lasting impression on ourselves, so that we will always remember to help those in need.
